Mario Kart Double Dash's Single Player/Multiplayer Differences
I've strangely seen very little mention of it, but Mario Kart: Double Dash contains some substantial differences between its single player and multiplayer modes. This doesn't seem to happen when playing with two racers in one car, or when connected via LAN (and have just one player per console). Here I attempt to list as many of the differences as I have noticed.
Items
In single player, Mario and Luigi will launch five fireballs which bounce off of the course's walls. In multi-player, there will only be three fireballs and they disappear on contact with a wall.
In single player, Yoshi and Birdo's eggs will release three items. In multi-player they will just release one.
Course Obstacles
Dry Dry Desert
In single player, there are Pokey's along the first stretch which aren't present in multiplayer.
The entrance to the sand dunes presents two Pokey's and an item box in single player. These are missing in multiplayer.
There are four smaller Pokeys present in the sand dunes in single player. These are missing in multiplayer.
Mario Circuit
The Piranha Plants after the first bridge are missing in multiplayer.
The first two Goombas along the final stretch are not present in multiplayer.
Daisy Cruiser
There are significantly less sliding tables and items boxes in the dining room when playing in multiplayer.
The life-rings before the final staircase are missing in multiplayer.
Waluigi Stadium
The rings of fire on each of the jumps are not there in multiplayer.

There is a blue Shy-Guy missing in the first ice section of multiplayer.
The three smaller Freezies are missing from the final ice section in multiplayer.

There are traffic lights throughout the city which don't appear in multiplayer.
Yoshi Circuit

Daisy Cruiser
The seagulls only appear in single player.
The sun loungers and umbrellas around the pool are missing from multiplayer.
Sherbet Land
The faces in the walls aren't blowing frost (I can't remember whether or not these can freeze you and should be counted as an obstacle).
In multiplayer the snowmen are missing after emerging from the tunnel.
Mushroom City
The GO sign above the starting line is only switched on in single player.
Yoshi Circuit
The seagulls only appear in single player.
Daisy Cruiser can be seen in the distance in single player but isn't present in multiplayer.
The Yoshi helicopter is only present in single player.
Dino Dino Jungle
